Your Role as COO

The Chief Operations Officer will serve as the integrator of our firm, translating strategic vision into day-to-day execution and ensuring all departments operate with precision, efficiency, and alignment. You will oversee all internal functions while leading and mentoring a team of department heads across legal non attorney support staff and non-legal operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership
Direct all day-to-day functions of the firm, ensuring smooth, effective, and profitable operations across departments including HR, Intake, Case Management, Litigation Support, and Front Office.
Strategic Execution
Implement business strategies developed in partnership with the founders; ensure organizational goals are met with speed, consistency, and excellence.
Performance Optimization
Identify areas for operational improvement, introduce best-in-class tools and systems, and scale workflows that enhance productivity while reducing friction and cost.
Financial Stewardship
Collaborate with the CFO to maintain financial discipline and ensure budgets are met without compromising performance or client outcomes.
People Development
Build, develop, and retain high-performing leaders; create accountability systems that foster ownership, clarity, and career growth.
Compliance & Risk Oversight
Maintain a strong pulse on compliance and risk management in a highly regulated legal environment.
Founder Partnership
Serve as the primary operational liaison to the firm's founders, providing clear updates, thoughtful recommendations, and proactive solutions.

Who You Are

A seasoned operator with 10+ years in executive leadership, preferably in a professional services firm with $25M – 50M+ in annual revenue.
A systems thinker with strong business acumen, who can scale operations without losing cultural cohesion.
An exceptional communicator and leader who builds trust and drives alignment across diverse teams.
A data-informed decision-maker with experience in KPI tracking, forecasting, and organizational diagnostics.

Zanes Law Injury Lawyers LLC

Doug Zanes founded Zanes Law in 2003. Our firm’s first office was located in Tucson, Arizona, with Doug as the only attorney. His wife Claudia, who is a business executive, helped run the business operations within the law firm. During this time, we were able to count our entire staff on one hand.

By 2008, we had added two lawyers and employed a team of 15 staff members. It was at this time that we began to focus our practice on personal injury cases. We realized that helping accident victims was far more personally fulfilling than the area of law we had been practicing.

By 2017, the firm grew to include 10 lawyers spread across three law offices. There were two offices in Tucson, Arizona, and a third office in Phoenix, Arizona. Today, we continue to serve personal injury victims living and/or working in and around Tucson, Phoenix, Nogales, Sierra Vista, Douglas, Yuma, Flagstaff, and Northern Arizona. We also serve Glendale, Casa Grande, Scottsdale, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Tempe and the entire Phoenix Metro area.

In the past 20 years, Zanes Law Injury Lawyers has recovered almost 1 Billion Dollars for our clients. Both Doug and Claudia believe that our firm owes this success to the wonderful people who work here. Our paralegals, case managers, intake specialists, receptionists, attorneys, and business executives make sure to take care of our clients every step of the way.
